According to Russian media reports, the Russian government approved the list of goods that must be accompanied by a mandatory label control label. Since 2019, tobacco products, perfumes, clothing and footwear will be labelled and controlled.
In accordance with Government Decree No. 792 of April 28, 2018, the list includes 10 categories of goods, which must be accompanied by mandatory labels for electronic identification. These commodities include tobacco products, perfumes and toilets, various clothing, footwear, cameras and other products.
Tobacco products will be mandatory label control from December 2019, starting from 2019, perfume, tires, clothing, bedding and cameras will begin in December 2019.
The Russian government pointed out that the mandatory label control commodity list takes into account the particularities of market conditions and the conditions of commodity circulation in the relevant markets.
Mandatory labeling should reduce the circulation of counterfeit products in Russia.
As of now, Russia has implemented label control on fur products in January 2016 and on drugs in August 2016. The drug label experiment was extended until the end of this year.
From June 1, 2018, Russia also plans to carry out label control experiments on precious metals, precious stones and their products.
