The transition from traditional retail to new retail, RFID technology is indispensable

- Jun 28, 2018-

In recent years, we can see that there are no-frills machines in many companies. This makes our life easier. We don't need to waste extra time in the queue. We can make payment payments by sweeping.

As we all know, the transition from traditional retail to new retail and integration with online is not an easy task and requires a lot of technical means to support it. For example, the integration and depth of sensors used by Amazon Go physical convenience stores

Learning algorithm. The Japanese government has pushed the "unmanned convenience store" to use RFID automatic identification technology. Auchan and RT-Mart have also introduced unmanned shop equipment based on RFID technology.

 RFID tags

Currently, the unmanned shop based on RFID technology mainly has the following three modes, which are mainly divided into:

1, pre-identification (identity) mode

2, free identification (identity) mode

   3, full open mode

The pre-identification (identity) mode refers to the fact that the user needs to perform identity recognition before opening the smart goods cabinet or the no-man shop door to perform commodity shopping. For example, if Auchan introduces unmanned shops, it must first scan the QR code (identity authentication) before entering. This means that it is a typical pre-identification (identity) application. If it cannot be identified, the consumer cannot perform the shopping action! All are equipped with RFID tags and form corresponding electronic bills).

The ID-free (identity) mode means that the user can purchase goods without having to perform identification. Generally, such an unattended store will have an access control system. Consumers can enter the store directly through the physical switch. After the consumer enters, the access control is automatically locked. After the consumer completes shopping and the payment is successful, the access control can be reopened. (Products are equipped with RFID tags and form corresponding electronic bills).

The full open mode means that users can freely go in and out of the store, and they can freely choose products. The products carry RFID and two-dimensional code payment labels. Consumers can go out of the store after selecting goods and scanning to complete the payment. However, if you leave the store without completing the payment, the access control system will automatically detect and alert you. The advantage of the full open model is that it can solve the problem of multi-point shopping settlement, and the transformation of stores is relatively controllable. This mode is particularly suitable for new models in which convenient stores and supermarkets are formed with people and unmanned applications when they are equipped with a small number of service personnel and are combined with the application devices of the first two modes.

Unintended retail stores can not only break the time constraints of the traditional retail model, but also upgrade the shopping experience. Through RFID, big data, cloud computing and other technologies, it can provide users with more personalized product services and experiences, social operations and accurate marketing. With the help of advanced technology, the retail industry is rapidly changing and the retail ecological landscape is being reconstructed. At this time, what retailers want to do is change.
